Oil prices, on the other hand, faced a weekly loss as prospects of oversupply weighed on the market. Gold continues to scale new highs, as traders digest data and remarks from policymakers, with prices up ~2% this week, while focus also rema awaiting a slew of key economic readings that may offer clues on the scope of further easing by the Federal Reserve. Bullion's nearly 30% rally this year has also been supported by robust purchasing by central banks and haven demand amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Brokerage BMI revising up its 2024 gold price forecast from $2,250/oz to $2,375/oz, expecting prices to trade within the range of $2,500/oz-$2,800/oz in the coming months. This marks a departure from the $1,943/oz average seen in 2023.
