Examining the window sticker of a new car or truck to find out its industrial bloodlines can be like reviewing one of those DNA reports to find out you're more of a mixed breed than you imagined. So if you're looking for a vehicle that can be considered 100% American, the prepared by car shopping website Cars.com has bad news for you. “There's no vehicle on the index being made here that is 100% of, like, top to bottom American,” declared lead researcher Patrick Masterson, during an advanced briefing for the Automotive Press Association last Friday. “The highest content percentage I saw this year was 75.” It's a head-scratcher indeed. “So that's why this list this Index was started in 2006. It is to illustrate that the badge on the hood does not always reveal a car's economic contribution to the U.S. economy,” said Cars.com editor-in-chief Jenni Newman, during the media briefing. “Domestic automakers account for 34% of the Index while foreign automakers account for 66%.” Pa
