The agency was founded by Tom Robinson in September 1984 after having worked for a large public relations in Jackson for 12 years. "I got to the point I was getting middle-aged, and asking what I wanted to do," he said. "But that was only after we had some discussions about the opportunities." After feeling things out, he left on a Friday and started from scratch the following Monday. And, he said, without pirating any clients from his old agency. "I had about $10,000 in media orders that I left on the corner of my desk when I left," he said. "To me, it had to be a clean break." With a fresh start, he walked into the office of Aubrey Paterson, the longtime chairman and CEO of what was then the Bank of Mississippi (now Cadence Bank). At the time Patterson was in charge of leasing, and the bank had plenty of space in its downtown headquarters building; Robinson started his agency there.
