on Friday, quoting an executive who told the newspaper Reforma in an interview on Friday. BYD, which began sales in Mexico last year, has disclosed plans to build a plant in the country, aiming at deliveries of up to 500,000 vehicles annually for the local market. "The proposal to the Mexican government is to see the possibility of, through our investment in a new plant, having the conditions to extend the decree," the automaker's country head Jorge Vallejo told Reforma in the interview. An existing tariff exemption of 15% to 20% on EVs imported from countries without a trade agreement with Mexico will expire at September end as President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador leaves office.
