The Planning Commission approved a replat of acreage at the shopping center so Ming Commercial Group, of Athens, can put the coffeehouse on a 0.76-acre tract, formerly a used car lot, at the southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and McGlathery Lane. The Starbucks will be next to Culver's restaurant. William Ming Jr., qualifying broker and principal of Ming Commercial Real Estate Group, said Starbucks has been looking for a new site in Decatur. The company has a location at Wimberly Drive Southwest, just off Beltline Road, and inside Target at The Crossings of Decatur. "The location on the Beltline does a lot of business, so they told us they would like another location in Decatur," Ming said. "The new site is a good fit for them." Ming said this will be Starbucks' new prototype. At 2,500 square feet, it will be larger than the Beltline location, which is 1,632 square feet.
