He faces charges of wire fraud and money laundering and is under investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Franklin man began working for Bridgestone Americas, Inc. in 2016 and served in numerous positions before landing the finance executive role as assistant treasurer. Among other responsibilities, Khatiwada was in charge of initiating payments for bank fees and credit card processing fees for the company. In the summer of 2020, the complaint alleges that Khatiwada invented a fake company called Paymt-Tech, LLC and began submitting fabricated invoices to Bridgestone for "bank fees." From there, the complaint said he sent emails from his Bridgestone account to initiate the payment to Paymt-Tech, LLC, and Bridgestone would approve it. This continued every month from August 2020 until Khatiwada left the company in April 2024, according to the complaint.
