But as Canadians make travel plans for 2025, many international destinations are beckoning to them beyond the usual tourist hot-spots. Is Seoul the new Tokyo? Is Morocco the new Spain? “Travellers are increasingly seeking experiences that differ from traditional tourism,” says travel expert Natalie Preddie. “Many tourists now prioritize authentic cultural immersion over typical attractions.” She says less mainstream locations are on the rise, and travellers are also looking to create more personalized trips. That can mean choosing restaurants off the beaten path, attending grassroots festivals or hiring local guides for natural excursions. “The best experiences mix these elements naturally, like having dinner with a local family or learning traditional crafts from people who’ve made them for generations,” Ms. Preddie says. Tripadvisor recently released its must-visit destinations for 2025 and among the top trending destinations are Casablanca, Morocco, Seoul, South Korea, and Lima
