ION Dynamics Energy A touch on a smartphone app, and in moments what looks like a cross between R2D2 and a dorm-sized refrigerator finds its way over to a Ford Mustang Mach-E and presents itself ready for duty to replenish the electric vehicle's battery charge. The device is the FlashBot autonomous robot EV charger created by Novi, Michigan startup, ION Dyanmics Energy Corporation. FlashBot is a mobile level four DC fast charger that's also capable of level two charging configurations, according to co-founder Josh Bitterman, who demonstrated the robot at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab. The idea, he said, is to help solve a growing issue—making EV recharging available in areas where installing permanent charging stations is either logistically, or financially infeasible.
