German chemical company BASF expects modest growth this year, expecting earnings before interest, tax and depreciation (EBITDA) and special items to increase to between €8 billion and €8.4 billion ($8.3 billion and $8.7 billion), it announced on Friday. It reported that in 2024, EBITDA before special items was €7.9 billion, a 2% rise on the previous year. Fiscal 2024 net income came in at €1.3 billion, compared with €225 million in 2023. Earnings per share was €1.45 compared to €0.25. Adjusted earnings per share was €3.51 compared to €2.78 the previous year. The EBITDA margin before special items was 12%, compared with 11.1% in 2023. Excluding the revenues from precious and base metals, the EBITDA margin before special items rose to 13.1% from 12.6%. Core businesses increased EBITDA before special items by 18% compared with 2023.
