This partnership marks a significant advancement in their efforts to expand global broadband connectivity. The agreement establishes a framework for Vodafone to provide space-based cellular broadband connectivity in its home markets and to other operators through its Partner Markets program. Since 2018, Vodafone has been a key investor and technology partner in AST SpaceMobile, contributing to major breakthroughs in direct-to-device 2G, 4G, and 5G connectivity. Vodafone has now ordered its first Block 1 BlueBird gateway, advancing the deployment of AST SpaceMobile's global network. This gateway will enable users outside traditional coverage areas to connect directly to AST SpaceMobile's satellites, routing data through Vodafone's network for broadband access.
