The network's revenue is largely driven by lucrative cable subscriber fees, which account for 70% of its revenue, rather than advertising. The recent spin-out of MSNBC and CNBC into a standalone company, SpinCo, is expected to generate $7 billion in revenue and $2.5 billion in EBITDA, with $1 billion of that coming from the two news channels. This financial stability has eased concerns about the network's post-election credibility gap and declining viewership, and has given new CEO Mark Lazarus a significant amount of cash to invest in the network or pursue new opportunities, such as a streaming product.
