He has served on the SDBA Board of Directors since 2018. He graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in 1997 with a degree in economics. While in Montana, Clarkson ran a car dealership for nine years and worked his way up to the position of general manager at Dick Walter Audi. He then spent ten years in multiple departments at American Bank, ending with the position of Bozeman Area Market Manager. After nineteen years outside of the family business, Clarkson was named president and CEO of Pioneer Bank and Trust in Spearfish, where he is a fourth generation banker.
