Global Infrastructure Partners, which was acquired by BlackRock, according to an Oct. 1 announcement, would hold a 60% interest in Allete Inc., SWL&P's parent company, and Canada Pension Partners would hold a 40% interest in the Duluth-based company, according to a post-acquisition organization chart submitted to the PSCW. "The PSCW's decision brings us another step closer to completing this transaction for the benefit of our customers, our communities and our employees," said Bethany Owen, chair, president and CEO of Allete, in a prepared statement. Owen said the decision follows resounding approval from shareholders last year and approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The commission's approval was needed because Allete owns SWL&P, a regulated utility that delivers electricity, natural gas and water to Wisconsin customers.
