Aurubis Richmond cut the ribbon this morning on the first phase of that expansion project. This ribbon cutting is the first step in the company's effort to bring more jobs and less metal waste to the Augusta area. The $800 million dollar project will not only provide job opportunities, but it will also continue to recycle scrap metals like printed circuit boards, insulated copper cable, and more. Friday morning's ribbon cutting represented the first phase of growth for the company. Leaders say phase two is currently under construction. “Working for Aurubis, it's great. One thing we tell employees is that this family helps you take care of the family at home,” Aurubis employee Tashara Johnson said. That family is growing by the dozens.
