With airlines seemingly hell bent on making frequent flyer schemes less and less rewarding of customers' loyalty, one airline has bucked the trend. When Air France/KLM bought a share in SAS, the airline became part of the Skyteam airline alliance, having previously been a member of Star Alliance. SAS decided to devise a way to celebrate the change and encourage its Eurobonus loyalty members to get to know the new alliance. The promotion offered flyers a chance to become a points millionaire if they flew on 15 out of 17 Skyteam's airlines in a relatively short period of around two months.
