Style And Sneakers: 3 Brands Dominate Back To School Sales Sneakers have increasingly become an expression of style for many people, both young and old. Innovative, relatively affordable and frequently updated sneaker designs encourage consumers to purchase multiple pairs. They are comfortable, worn daily and often year-round. Thus, the demand for sneakers is greater than ever. Three brands dominated this back to school season – they are Vans, FILA and Puma. The three winners edged out the former brand leaders Nike and Adidas. In contrast, demand for FILA grew more than a third, Vans by 25% and Puma in the high single digits according to an NPD Survey. Brooks was in mid-single digits and both Nike and Puma grew in the low single digits.
