Now it's revoking college scholarships for at least 1,250 students. Jack Schuler. At 9 a.m. on July 17, Leslie Barrera, a rising junior at the University of Rochester, received a startling email. The Schuler Scholar Program, funded by former healthcare billionaire Jack Schuler, announced it would be abruptly canceling her $2,500 annual college scholarship, meaning she'd miss out on the last two installments. "I was very distressed because it was very unexpected,” said Barrera. “I started panicking.” "I'm surprised how everything unfolded,” said Faith Ngulube, a rising senior at Highland Park High School in the Chicago suburbs, who was expecting to receive a similar scholarship once she was accepted to college. "I thought because of the nature of the program that there would have been plans in place or money set aside. It's just very disappointing."
