American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) and Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) were cut to Hold, while Air Canada (TSX:AC) and Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) were downgraded to Underperform. United Airlines remains Jefferies' only Buy-rated airline, as analysts see opportunities beyond 2025. “We lower Q1/Q2 estimates with March exit rates pressuring summer,” Jefferies analysts wrote, adding that average second-quarter EPS estimates are now 14% below Street consensus. The firm expects AAL, AC, and LUV to cut 2025 EPS guidance, with DAL also likely to reduce expectations. “UAL unlikely but low-end,” Jefferies noted. Domestic airline revenues are projected to grow 3% year-over-year in 2025, while international revenues could see low single-digit gains. However, Jefferies warned that spillover risks from weakening domestic travel remain a concern. The firm estimates each 1-point drop in Domestic or Atlantic revenue per available seat mile (RASM) could reduce 2025 EPS by 12% and 4%, respectively.
