Pras Subramanian · Senior Reporter 3 min read In This Article Tesla stock ( TSLA ) rebounded on Wednesday on news that the EV maker was one step closer to robotaxi ride-hailing in the state of California. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) said it approved Tesla's application for a transportation charter-party carrier permit (TCP), per Reuters . This is most likely an “A” certificate or “P” permit that allows for chartered and point-to-point hired trips, with charges based on mileage and or time. The CPUC did not immediately respond when reached for comment. Tesla's permit is likely the same permit that robotaxi rival Waymo secured before it was converted for autonomous vehicle use in the state of California. Tesla shares were up 3% in early trading. Tesla, Inc.
