They said the company remains under "numerous pressures" coming from intensified competition with fiber, fixed wireless access, ACP-related unwind, and elevated capital investments required to evolve and expand the network. The research firm said its residential broadband subscriber estimates imply no growth through 2030 and moderate ARPU growth at ~1.5%, below industry average for the company. They think while Charter can aim for higher broadband nets in outer periods, price disruption would be cannibalistic for both Charter and fiber competitors. "Longer-term, while we believe the return to subscriber growth is possible, it comes at the expense of ARPU decline. We expect Charter to defend its subscriber base from ARPU dilution instead of pursuing subscriber growth," RBC analysts said in their September 19 analysis.
