In the Wednesday morning release, the company said the new deal will include more live national games than ever before and fewer regional blackouts. The deal includes the national rights across all platforms, rights to playoff games, out-of-market rights for regional games. The deal also allows for the possibility of sub-licensing national French-language and a single-night exclusive national package. Previously, TVA Inc., an affiliate of Quebecor Inc., snagged the French rights, and two years ago Rogers signed a two-year deal with Amazon.com Inc. for Monday night games. Rogers will pay escalating annual payments to the NHL over the 12-year term.
