Study: Louisiana sees one the biggest increases in sports betting tax revenue [Yahoo! Finance]

Sports betting has become very popular with the emergence of apps like DraftKings and FanDuel that allow people to make bets with a tap of the finger. Right now, it is legal in 38 states, including Louisiana, and the District of Columbia. State tax revenue data analyzed by LendingTree identified which states generated the most money from sports betting within one year. Nationwide, tax revenue from sports betting increased 34.7%, jumping up to just under $2.5 billion. According to the study, Louisiana saw a 29.5% increase in sports betting tax revenue, the 10th largest increase in the U.S., going up from $34,205,000 to $44,310,000. The top three states where tax revenue grew by double digits were identified as Massachusetts, Ohio and Maryland. The state with the most tax revenue was New York with $875,996,000. Three states that saw a big dip in sports betting tax revenue were Delaware, Nebraska and North Dakota. Here are the top 10 states with an increase in sports betting
